Science: a reductive materialist religion which lasted from the 1600s to 2050. Its main achievement was to have managed to have not been perceived as a religion for a number of years. By the early part of the 21st century it became apparent that it was a religion; like the earlier delusional cult of Christianity
It only operated on a narrow waveband of reality and became inoperable when more and more started to "see" again.
The ones who clung to the old beliefs were laughed at for many years after; up to 2075 in some cases.
It was only ever a minor belief in human history but was deeply embedded in the culture while it lasted.
